The Hal Adams Bridge is 3 miles north of Mayo, carrying SR 51 across the Suwannee River, in the northwestern part of the state. It was built in 1947, and the first suspension bridge in the state. It was the only blue bridge I’d ever seen, until I encountered the US 17 bridge on the Florida-Georgia border on the way back from Savannah. The Adams bridge is included in “A Guide to Florida’s Historic Architecture”. See more photos here.
